Hi,

I have XP at work and Win7 at home and use a moble USB HDD to work on excel and AutoCAD files on both PCs.
Win7 seems to protect the file once it has been edited by XP.

How can I change the permissions/ownership to prevent Win& wanting to 'save as'?

Thanks

Nick

Are the files read-only, because that would make it want to "save as"?

If you are sure it is a permissions thing then you can download a script called "take ownership" and give your W7 login access.
