First off, can one run a SFC on a win 7 64 bit home prem with the main drive being an SSD ?

Over the weekend ran the SFC (as thought I had a task Schedule problem - but do not).
The SFC 100% completes but with this:
"Windows resource protection found corrupt files but unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log..."

The is 500 pages.

any input/suggestions ?

Thx.

SFC is a System File Checker. It checks for the correct version of System files. An SSD is just another drive to SFC.

I would strongly suggest that you do a offline virus scan:

Then try this:

Well no luck with the Repair disk.

Start Up repair found nothing to repair.
Mem Diag - also nothing.
The cmd prompt with sfc /scannonw /offbootdir .... same error as just runinng the sfc /scannow.

Are you able to zip the CBS.log file? if it is too big, use mediafire.com

Please look for a file that has been modified today.
That files has a log entry 2012-06-24 09:11:58.

found 2 items - not sure what the Starting TrustedInstaller initialization is but I have notice that last few days when I boot the PC, and when reaches the desktop I see a very small window (almost 1/2 inch square) at the bottom center of my screen with an AMD reference. Its gone in flash so not sure fully what it is.

So now that I found these 2, now what? Do I delete them from the log file?

thx

Try running a chkdsk /f
If that doesn't fix it then the only thing that I can think of is to run a repair/install :Repair Install

Sorry that I can't be of more help.

Not that I have faith in chkdsk ...
So with the repair process and by choosing Upgrade - how much will I loose?
Will I have to re-install M/S Office and any non M/S programs?

Except for time, I have no problem with re-installing programs and all my phots, documents, etc are triple backed up (including Carbonite).
