Hi folks,

Win 7 64-bit
Serial port external modem

Please advise where can I find guide/steps to setup Win7 sending and receiving fax. I don't expect to create a list of fax number at the beginning. I want to send a test fax first. TIA

Do you have 64-bit drivers installed for this external modem?
Does device manager show that the modem is working correctly?
Which program are you using to send fax's with?

Hi,

No. Win 7 64bit detects and installs the modem using generic driver.

Thanks for your URL

Before posting I followed the instruction on that website without result. There is no instruction there for me to follow as said on the video.

I found the solution:-

To fax a document, without cover page, perform following steps:
(It is quite similar to WinFax which I ran >10 year ago)

Steps as follows;

1)
Start the document to be faxed -> Print -> fax -> OK

2)
To preview the fax;
View -> Preview
To close preview:
de-select Preview

3)
To: (don't type anything here if no fax number list available)
Subject: (fill in your subject here)

4)
click the icon "Format a fax number to correctly use a dialing rule for your location" on the tool bar to
start "Fax Number Properties"

5)
- fill in the name of the recipient
- uncheck "user country and area code (if it is a local fax)
- fill in "Fax Number"
-> OK
Then the name of the recipient and his/her fax number will appear on "To:" box

6)
-> click "Send"
(You are done)

To fax a document with cover page the steps are more less the same. Follow the instruction as mentioned on that website. Attach the document to be sent to the fax. Perform steps 3) to 6) above. That is all.

My remaining questions are;
1) Where can I find the copies of fax sent?
2) Where can I find the fax record
3) Where can I find "Format a fax number to correctly use a dialing rule for your location" on the drop menu?

On;
Libraries -> Documents -> Fax;
Draft
Inbox
Personal CoverPages

TIA
