Riven not responding

I as an old gamer love the Myst series.I finally solved Myst last year and took a break from the series.today I installed Riven installation went fine,game starts fine,but when it's time for me to take control Riven stops responding.not sure whats going on any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I got it to respond by ejecting the disc and reinjecting .I've trid it twice and both times in different spots it froze still no clue ??
