Is there a way I can remove the "For testing purposes only. Build 7000" message from the Windows 7 Beta?

For now I have just covered it with a gadget, but it spoils the desktop having that written there

This is all I've been able to find out about this (so far)!

Also, did find a few that claim to do it by running an executable! Not my cup of tea unless I really KNOW what they are doing!

Thanks Geoffers, it appears as though it is quite complicated to remove this bit of text. I don't really want to run the random .exe file, because I like to know what it does too. Oh well, I will just find a background with a white corner in it

Aye, it seems like the text is buried deep inside a user file and that these workarounds modify it. Trouble is, how can you be sure that they're not modifying something else too!

You are in luck, BetaMan has posted a link to a site that shows a manual way to do it:

Remove the watermark on the desktop!

Hope that is of some use!
