reading hdd space

is there any known problems in reading hdd space like there was in vista
and is there a warning that comes on when drive space is low

I'm not sure what you mean about problems with reading HDD space? Was there a bug the reports the amount of space incorrectly?

I'm not aware of a bug, but you'll still get a notification if your HDD space does get too low.

I did some searching and did not find any bug about reading HDD space for W7. Are you seeing any issues currently?

I asked how to fix it and luckily, someone suggested that I compress it and I have about half full. [I have roughly 500GB of space overall]. But I read up that compressing is bad, as in it can assault the performance of your computer or damage the quality of the files within the HDD.
