OK so you get this message when installing aome program followed by the option to

You get as message that says try reinstalling with settings that are compatible with windows 7.
Oh really... and what settings might that be?

1. Select reinstall using recommended settings ( which is most likely what
was done in the first place).

or

2. Select "This program installed correctly" ... like if had installed correctly,
should you even be getting this?

Does anyone actually find this as being usefull? If so, what am I missing?

Sometimes installers don't follow Windows installation protocols
completely. I suggest selecting "This program installed correctly," then
check it to make sure it is working. If it isn't working, uninstall it
and try reinstalling it in compatibility mode.

Another possible cause for this message is that you installed a program that
expects the system to be rebooted immediately after installation, but when
asked if you want to reboot "now" or "later" you selected "later." As a
result, the setup program might return a nonzero completion code back to
Explorer, which doesn't know that the setup process itself was successful
but you chose to defer the reboot.

Since Explorer doesn't know *why* it received a nonzero AX value at exit
from setup, it's informing the user that there may be a problem and offering
to rerun the setup program in compatibility mode. Given the number of
programs that trip over the improved security and API enforcement in Windows
7 that's probably a good design.

So far, each time I've got this message, I've choosed "this program
installed correctly" and indeed the programs work.

Same here. I never understood that error message which is misleading to me.
