Greetings Experts,

A few days ago I was tempted to try the program ARO that I had come
across with my new Win 7 Home Edition. It was on or near a web page with
the Avira program, so maybe the latter was the source.

I was under the impression that it was free and set it to search my
computer for problems. It came up with a large number of errors. Then it
presented a screen that indicated hundreds of errors and a price tag
with it. I did not like that sneaky way.

I decided to delete it but since then my computer often hangs for a few
minutes and I suspect that ARO left it dirty foot prints.

Does anyone know of a program that could clean up ARO's mess.

TIA

?Try CCleaner the link is: http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/?tag=mncol;1

On the TOOLS Tab, if there are any signs here of ARO, uninstall it from
here. I doubt it will show here if you have already attempted to uninstall
it via Control Panel or ARO's own uninstall tool, but look anyway.

Now go to the CLEANER TAB, on the WINDOWS Section tick all boxes EXCEPT
'Wipe Free Space' (We will return to that one later!)
Click RUN CLEANER.

Now go to the APPLICATIONS TAB, Tick all boxes then RUN CLEANER.

Now go to the Registry section, SCAN FOR ISSUES, FIX SELECTED ISSUES (Save
when asked to do so)

Now return to the WINDOWS TAB ........... tick the ONLY unticked box (WIPE
FREE SPACE) click RUN CLEANER (This could take up to a couple of hours)!

If the above fails, I can only suggest starting up in Safe Mode and doing a
System Restore from there to a date prior to installing ARO.

Good Luck.
