Printer Problem

My desktop computer, running Windows 7 Home Premium is networked
through our home network system to two printers, a Lexmark Z 715 and
an HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format Printer. Until recently both of these
printers worked very well. Since about two weeks ago the HP Officejet
printer has refused to print anything from my IE Browser. It will
print from all of my client software. I get the following error pop-up
window:

An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 2107
Char: 1
Error: Unspecified error
Code: 0
URL: res://ieframe.dll/preview.ja
Do you want to continue running the script on this page?
Yes No

If I select either Yes or No, the process stops and nothing more
happens.

My desktop computer will print to the Lexmark printer from a web page,
but balks when I try to print from a web page to the HP printer. The
other computers on our home network will print a web page by the HP
printer, so it must be capable of doing so, Why won't it do so for my
desktop computer? The only way I can work around this is to do a
copy/paste into MS Word, then print to the HP printer.

I did an on-line update of the printer drivers and have gone through
all the check and see things I can think of but can't get this problem
resolved. Any suggestions, anyone?

Thanks, Gordon

Let's rule a few things out, based on the information you've provided.
1. It's not a printer problem, despite the title of the thread.
2. It's not a print driver problem since other apps are able to print.
3. It's not a Windows 7 problem since other apps are able to print.
4. It's not a networking problem since other apps are able to print.

I'd say it's an IE problem on the desktop computer. What version of IE
are you using, and do you have any toolbars or other add-ons
installed? Does print preview cause the same problem? Have you tried
another browser?

Thanks, Char. I just checked my IE 9. Version 9.0.8112.16421 is what
I read on the Help About window.

I haven't tried another browser, but may do that to see what I get.
I'm curious as to why this IE version would print to my Lexmark
printer with no problems but balk when I select the HP printer. Yet
the HP printer works as it should with all other aps. Gordon

I just tried Firefox and it printed the web site with the HP printer
with no fussing or balking. This has to be an IE 9 based problem, but
I can't figure out why IE 9 will print to my Lexmark printer but not
to my HP printer. Fussy, huh? Gordon

Perhaps try disabling "Enhanced Printing Features" in the Printing
Preferences, Advanced. HP printers can do some really odd things
sometimes when they try "optimizing" the print job.

A person here, found a folder "devices and printers" with two
icons for the same printer. Do you have something like that ?

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/1/...inter-problem/

This is "devices and printers". Check to see if there are two
entries for the same device (double entry).

I checked this in Control Panel - Devices and Printers and there is
only one icon. I'm thinking this must be an IE 9 problem. I don't have
this problem when I print a web page from Fire Fox.

I looked in Control Panel - Devices and Printers then right clicked on
the HP Printer icon. I got a pop-up that showed some similar choices,
but none specifically labeled "Enhanced Printing Features."

Am I looking in the wrong place for this?

I thought we had agreed that it was an IE problem, not a printer
problem, so yes, I'd say you're looking in the wrong place.

Start IE with all add-ons, browser helpers, and toolbars disabled.
Does printing work? If so, enable those items one at a time until you
find the culprit.
