power2go question (if allowed)

Not sure this is the right forum but here goes.

Power2go came pre-installed on my Win 7 laptop. Over the years I have
collected a relatively-high number of French songs from the so-called
golden age: Trênet, Aznavour, Patachou, etc. When I try to burn them
onto CD, although the mp3 files are listed by song title (La mer, Sous
les ponts de Paris, etc.), Power2go lists them only as Track 1, Track 2,
etc. I change the titles by hand individually and save the setting but
when I reopen it's back to Track 1, Track 2, etc. Am I missing a step
somewhere along the line or is this the only way to go?

Did the software burn them as cda instead of mp3?

Yes, that was my whole idea in the first place. I wanted to be able to
play them on a regular stereo system at home and also at the University
Club where old geezers like me sit around drinking gallons of coffee and
sharing memories that each song brings back.

Audio CDs do not carry song information like mp3 files do. You're
probably out of luck on that count.

Actually, audio CDs have the potential to carry some limited song
information if they are written using CD-TEXT, a feature that must be
supported by both the writer and the player. However, in the real
world, very few discs have CD-TEXT info written to them, and few
players can read it, even if it's there.

Many computer-based audio CD players maintain their own database of CD
artist/title/track/etc info. If it's a common commercial CD, the player
may be able to retrieve the info from the Internet. If the disc is your
own custom-made compilation, that can't happen. You may be able to type
in the info by hand, but that info won't carry to another computer, of
course.

I have no idea if power2go supports any of the features (CD-TEXT or
local info database) that I mentioned. You should check out its help
file, or check with the author of the software about that.

CDA does not contain that information.
Add titles, or meta data, then burn as MP3 data disc.

mp3 data discs aren't nearly as widely supported as standard audio
discs, so he might run into trouble when he tries to play an mp3 data
disc on his regular stereo system or the system at the University
Club.

Hi Char:

At home I have a Yamaha CDC600 which will play a slice of toast if you
shove it in. However, at the U, someone donated his old Sony CD player
when he upgraded at home and it only plays regular CDs.

To Ed: I joined that Power2go forum the first time I tried to rip to
mp3 and asked a question on how come the option is not available. I got
one on-line answer recommending I upgrade to Platinum, and five private
messages with the same advice. That was primarily the reason I took a
chance posting here - nicer folk!
