This began as a question: "What exactly is scoring?" but I did some
Googling and found a pretty good explanation, if anyone is interested.

I used to use Xnews, and was very happy with the scorefile scenario. I don't
know why I left it, except OE was simpler. With the sudden spate of BS'ers
coming out of the woodwork again, I might go back to a scoring-supported
newsreader again. Have you ever used Claws (http://www.claws-mail.org/)?
That sounded interesting.

Tried is a long time back, didn't like it but I can't recall exactly
why? I've tried dozens of newsreaders and never found one I like as
well as Xnews, it suits me perfectly.

Doesn't seem too bad; similar to OE. Easier to set up than Thunderbird
was. Took all of 10 minutes to get all of my email and newsgroup
messages. Now comes the fun part of tweaking it to the way I like it :-)

It is always the tweaking. I can install Windows in an hour. but it
takes months to get it tweaked in!
