I'm using Paint Shop Pro 8 on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit machine. It keeps
crashing on
me and I've noticed that the problem seems to occur when I'm using the crop
tool. Is PSP 8 supposed to be compatible with Windows 7, and any idea what could
be causing this problem? Thanks.

Better yet, visit the Paint Shop Pro website & get full details plus the
latest update.

You won't find any "full details" on this abandoned product. The only
thing you will find is the 8.10 update. If that's what he already has,
there's no point in visiting the Corel site.

The site does give system requirements & OE compatability.

should be "OS", not "OE".

Oops you're not allowed to ask any question on any NG without someone
telling you to Google it. Didn't you know that? LOL.... it probably takes
less time for them to type the one word answer you need.
I'm using PSP 9 on my new Win7 box and it works flawlessly, and runs
much faster than ever before.

I haven't a clue why it does that.
I have read that version 7 works on Windows 7, so I would assume that 8
works too.
Try re-installing the program or upgrade to PSP9 or higher, although I can't
recommend PSPPX3, but it depends on what you use it for.
I use PSPPX2 without any problems.
Everything runs a lot faster on a Windows 7 machine :-)

Tsk tsk.
Have you ever considered that not everyone is as smart as you?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and I have PSP 5 installed and running
without
any problems. I also have PSP 7 installed, also running without problem,
but I like
PSP 5 better for reasons having nothing to do with compatibility.

I don't know why you are having problems, but one thing I would suggest
trying is
running the program with the "Troubleshoot reliability" option. Locate
psp.exe in
Explorer (C:\Program Files (x86)\Paint Shop Pro 5\Psp.exe by default),
right click
to bring up the context menu and select "Troubleshoot reliability." This
only has to
be done once, not every time PSP is run.
