Ok, I checked on the MOD I use and here is the quote:
"Hah, no chance CM would ever have that garbage. Also, it's proprietary
software and we couldn't ship it if we wanted to."
I also did some quick preliminary research which indicated not all
carriers, including Verizon which I use, use that particular root kit.
However, that is not to say they don't just use a different one. Sad
state when what should be a trusted provider secretly installs such
things without one's knowledge, and also not offering a way to opt out.
(Turn it off) Am close to end of contract, so looking at the new
Motorola Razor. Once I make my choice, I most likely will MOD again as
soon as one is available killing the warranty. Yeah an expensive risk,
but at least the ROM (OS), will be clean of root kits and bloat. My
Nephew MOD'd his new Droid Bionic the same day he purchased it and is a
happy camper.
Side note for group topic, lol: Windows phones do not have that root
kit, but that doesn't mean there isn't a different one included from
carriers.
Cheers
