You only needs to download the English 64 bit version according to the license you own (Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise ......)

I recommend downloading the SP1 media refresh version. It is the newest version

I recomend dpwnloading the Windows 7 sp1 media refresh version which includes service pack 1 and some additional updates. These are not OEM images

http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58996.iso Windows 7 Home Premium x86 English

http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58997.iso Windows 7 Home Premium x64 English

I don't know about OEMs. They come pre activated so the License key cannot be used again

Doing a upgrade installation might keep your license but sometimes you get screwed windows 7 worst than the previews one .
To do an upgrade installation, you has to run the installer from an activated Windows OS. The downloaded ISO has to be burned to a DVD or USB drive. Booting from the DVD does a fresh installation

You can't download the OEM ISO images legally. They might be available on torrent sites (NOT LEGAL) but still they works (no 100% guarantee)
Google it

Nearly most everyone will be fine with the standard SP1 ISO image. As explained from the website http://www.mydigitallife.info

Quote:
The latest version of Windows 7 DVD image available is of media refresh version, which commonly known as Windows 7 SP1-U (Media Refresh). Microsoft released the media refresh version of Windows 7 DVD media to fix a rare bug related to invalid computer name when small set of computer names returned error when used to install Windows 7. Otherwise, the Windows 7 with SP1 and Windows 7 with SP1-U (Media Refresh) is completely the same.
This explains it a little better:
Quote:
Microsoft has published a new refresh version of Windows 7 with SP1 integrated ISO media on May 12, 2011, which fixes a minor issue which causes Windows 7 SP1 media cannot be used to install on new PC. The Windows 7 SP1-U (Media Refresh version) includes the installation hotfix KB2534111, and nothing else. No other changes have been made to the Windows 7 with SP1 ISO image despite there are tens of updates been released after the Windows 7 SP1 was released.

Laptops usually come preinstalled and pre-activated with a genuine key. Your windows key is usually on a sticker on the bottom of your laptop.

If your laptop is currently working then you can also install a piece of software called SIW which can be used to look up your key from within your computer (Install and run it, then go to Software > Licenses) and then you can simply write it down. Keep your key in a secure place and never share it over the internet.

SIW and many other fine products can be found in our Freeware DB.
