Office performance on Window 7 64 bit

Is there a significant difference in performance of Office 2010 on Windows 7- 64 bit compared to 32 bit Windows 7.

Are you installing the 32-bit version or 64-bit version of office 2010?

I use Office 2010 32-bit application on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS installed on an SSD. It's REAL fast! About 1/2 second from clicking the icon to say for example Word being fully open and accessible.

The reason I use the 32-bit version of Office 2010 (I have both) is because it will receive more updates than the 64-bit Office 2010. The 64-bit version is still being fine-tuned, or at least it was when I bought the package back in July of 2010.

I use the 32 bit Office 2010 on my PC, the 64 bit version on my notebook. The reason that I installed the 64 bit version on my notebook was for future proofing. I've yet to use the app on there yet, but I probably will at some point.

On my PC, the 32 bit works fine.

Is the 64 bit Flash required for the 64 bit Office to work properly?

PS: Should I have stuck with 32 bit Office, or does it matter? I try to run as many 64 bit apps as possible.

Flash is basically used mostly for web applications and viewing certain video.

It has no application in Office, as far as I know of.

Here is the reason the 32-bit Office 2010 is recommended; this answer is from the MS Office TechNet website:

In a default installation of Office 2010, the 32-bit version is installed, even on 64-bit systems. You must explicitly select the Office 2010 64-bit version installation option.

I'll go back and uninstall 64 bit Office & install the 32 bit version, for compatibility's sake. I was thinking of the future when I done the install.

But it seems that 32 bit apps will be around for quite some time, somewhere around another 3 years, minus 2 weeks & 2 days (04/08/14). We all know what that day spells. The final chapter of an era.

Probably by then, we'll get another Office anyway, one that's only 64 bit. Office 2010 will be kicked to the curb, just as Office 2007 is now.
