I don't know if this is the right sub forum, but here goes.

Windows Update is offering me an update for my graphics card. (Geforce 9400 GT)

Has anyone else gotten this message today?
It is a whopping 110MB or something silly like that.
Everything is working great so........ should I install it.

Also, I declined an update for fixing issues with Bitlocker. I don't use it.
Good move or bad?

TIA Yo

Hmmm.. difficult sight to navigate for me. Can't find anything. Will keep trying. I'm inclined to install the update later after a complete BU.

It's one of the newer ForceWare packages. If I had to wager, probably v197.13, which received WHQL approval on March 25.

I did the update to see what it was and it is reported as 8.17.11.9745, dated as 3rd April 2010 - so it looks like it could be 197.45 if I understand it correctly

Here's a link to some more info on the NVIDIA site (along with a newer release date):

Thanks all!

So it's the whole package but now certified?

Ian, did you install from MS update or Nvidia? Install over the top or uninstall old first?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm in the "need to know" mode.

Back-up image is complete so I'm almost ready.

All NVIDIA GPU driver packages go by the name of ForceWare. It's their marketing term, like "Catalyst" is for AMD's Radeons.

Yes, that is 197.45: 8.17.11.9745.

In conclusion...
The update is the newest WHQL-certified driver for NVIDIA GeForce cards from the 100, 200, 8000 and 9000 series.

I misunderstood the term ForceWare as in (trying to force you to install as the Original Poster was questioning). I guess you can tell I have not been an nVidia customer. I've only recently been interested in their cards and slowly learning their products. I don't think it will take me long to get a grip on the hardware side atleast.

Updated without incident. I'll mark it solved for now.
