No Sleep in Windows 7

Since upgrading to Win 7 I can access sleep or Hibernate, but it immediately restarts.
I have Google searched this problem but unable to find a solution. One suggestion is to use the coomand line >powercfg-lastwake . However windows says this is not a legitimate command.
I have tried all combinations of BIOS power settings.
Sleep and hibernate worked perfectly on this computer with Xp S3.
Motherboard Asus P5GC-MX IntelCore 2Duo E6300 DDr2 Ram 667 2Gig.

Windows 7 takes a long time to load from power off.

put a space after powercfg and before -lastwake. -lastwake is a parameter, not part of the command.

As for the rest, I can't comment on it since Win7 loads faster than XP did for me.

Is this an upgrade or clean install? Which edition?

This is a clean instal on formatted hard drive, W7 Ultimate.
Thanks for the info on cmd. Unfortunately the result was not helpful> history (0), which is getting me nowhere. I agree that w7 loads faster than Xp, I probably have too much on start-up. Is there some other way I can find out what is causing immediate wake up ?
