no icons!

hi i have just recieved my scan built pc it looks great and i want to get on and play but! windows boots up and the desktop is there but there is no icon or toolbar?
any ideas?

So if you go to the bottom left corner with the mouse, you don't see the start orb? If you do see the orb then click it.

hi no there is nothing? i can right click change screen saver etc but thats it!

Open a command prompt as administrator and run sfc /scannow

roban, it appears he has no start bar.

pcmark, have you tried every corner as someone may have moved the taskbar. It's also possible your computer was damaged in shipment. Do you have start-up discs? If so try booting with those. Since it is a new computer contact the manufacturer.

Can he ctrl-alt-delete and start task manager. Then go to File/New Task

It's quicker if you use the keyboard shortcut. Windows key + R will open up the run command line. From there, you can type in a variety of commands (e.g. 'taskmgr', 'explorer', etc.)
