Hello everyone,
I just installed Window 7 today to my Dell Inspiron 6000 with new hardrive. Everything is working except there is no Sound. The speaker logo has red cross mark and message said " No audio output device is installed" .
Try to installed the audio driver from Dell support webside but did not work. Anyone has any idea where to get the audio driver for WD 7?
Thank you in advanced.

It uses the Sigmatel AC'97. This might actually work well for you.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

If not, please open device manager. Then right click on the audio that is missing the driver. Choose properties. Details tab. Change the dropdown to say hardware ids. Then copy/paste the results here. I can find a driver for you easily with this info.

Also, are you using 32 or 64 bit?

Hello ,
My Dell inspiron 6000 is 32 bits.
I do have another Dell inspiron 6000 from my son, when I checked his computer Device manager the audio driver is "SigmaTel C-Major Audio".
My Inspiron 6000 said " Multimedia Audio Controller" ,I don't know why Dell Inpiron 6000 has the different name on the 6000 model?

Detail Tap shows on my 6000 and my son computer look the same:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_01881028&REV_03
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_01881028
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_0401

SigmaTel C Major Audio driver on my son computer version 5.10.0.4255 date November /3/ 2005.
I did download the file R99254 from Dell Support website, after I installed still shows " No Audio Output Device Installed "

Need help?
Thank you

That's the latest driver they ever made for that.

Here it is (must use I.E. only) - http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/...UBSYS_01881028

You'll probably be able to install it like this with success.

First, extract the driver to a folder.

Open device manager. Right click on the audio needing driver. Click update driver software. Browse my computer. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse.

Now find and double click on the .inf file inside the extracted folder. Hit ok. Hit next and it will install for ya.

I am looking for a driver for SigmaTel® C-Major™ Audio Device on a Sony Viao. The one on the site only supports XP.

Any help would be appreciated.

PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7012&SUBSYS_814E104D

I tried to follow this suggestion with no luck. I have the same problem of not having audio output and it is the same computer as the previous person had. Can you help... please I have become so frustrated with it all.

Thanks

The solution that worked for me was to install the drivers from the manufacturer in XP Compatibility mode. Worked perfectly.
