New Lenovo went from fast Boot to slooow Boot

This is my friends computer, and it used to boot up normally (15seconds +/-) but now it takes about 1 full minute.

I boot into F8 mode and enabled boot logging and what occurs is that the machine load a normal set of drivers then it begins a pattern of repeating attempting to load these other drivers.

etc... it goes on for 1262 lines with some slight variance in the middle of the wholew run --> 1262/14 = 90 attempts to LOAD and then NOT load the same block of drivers....

Has anyone seen anything like this?

Is this a Lenovo notebook comuter?

Regardless, nearly all OEM computer makers put a lot of junk software (we call it crapware) that may be slowing the system down.

It also sounds from what you're describing as if the HDD is heavily fragmented. I would try defragging the HDD and see if the boot time improves.

My first suggestion would be to put in the system repair disk and repair the system files; see if that fixes it.

Have you changed the BIOS settings at all? I found one post suggesting undoing changes they made in BIOS fixed their problem.

Another indicated they uninstalled their graphics drivers and then rebooted and the new graphics driver allowed the system to boot normally.

"Crapware" at a minimum.... a "computer guy" did something to make this laptop connect DHCP to a 192.168.x network. It's odd that the boot log shows so many attempts to load drivers that it doesn't load... makes me want to move the files... rename them and move them so they simply are not there to load, might cause it to fail faster... thus boot faster... it ain't elegant I assure you. It might work tho

Well if you notice, all those files are related to network connectivity so I would find out what your "computer guy" did to get the DHCP connection.

And as I mentioned, I would still pop in the repair disk and see if it is just a corrupt system file that needs fixed.

I am inclined to choke him. I am a computer person.... spent time learning... the real dangerous parties are the ad hoc "computer guys" -- I'll post it when it is fixed, thank you all for all the replies. You all confirmed my ssuspicion. Network related.... how do you screw up DHCP with a network key and the correct security protocol? Like screwing up a free lunch.

That may be so for situations you have come across, so rather than fiddle around to try and get it working properly, just trash the whole OS setup and re-install.

Yes, this "computer guy" screwed things up for you, and therefore "he" should be the one to rectify the situation for you.

Is there a way you are able to use System Restore back to the point prior to the "computer guy" FUBAR of your system?
