How about if you try a DVD? Or an different CD? Have you tried a CD cleaner disc?

CDs can be scratched and go bad. Hardware can go bad. If it is still under warranty and no CDs/DVDs work, then contact the manufacturer. If it is out of warranty then desktop DVD-roms can be replaced for about US$20 quite easily, Blueray or laptop versions can be as much as 4 or 5 times more.
