My 64-bit W7 HPE just became no longer genuine?

Hello.

I did my monthly Windows Updates (KB2620704, KB2588516, KB2617657, USB
Mouse driver, and MRT x64 for November 2011 (KB890030)) this morning,
rebooted, and ran a full MRT scan (no infections found). But now it
tells me my activated Windows 7 HPE is not genuine anymore. Did anyone
get this today or just me? I have had this Windows 7 HPE installed and
activated since December 2009.

FYI, I did fix it by following its instructions. I downloaded and ran
EXE file from MS' web site and run its ActiveX Control. That fixed it.

I still would like to know what happened. I never had this problem until
after this morning's updates and reboot. It seems like I was the only
one with this problem?

Thank you in advance.

I had the same problem a week ago (although I don't know what your
acronyms are, and I'm too lazy to check).

It seems that Windows 7 is over-enthusiastic about checking up on us
honest folk.

That means I think it's a bug in the Windows validation scheme. I also
think the validation scheme is a bug in the Windows design philosophy
:-)

I hate DRM.

One must still get away from MS to get away from their insane DRM policy.
I haven't used it for 10 years.

I'd like to, but darn PC/Windows games and work. Why are you in this
newsgroup then?

One option would be to use a real OS for work (I did that for 20+ years)
then use MS in a virtual machine or dual boot and never worry about
updating it - if you're addicted to computer games. Personally, I thought
that was what game consoles were for. Cheers.

A dual boot works for me. I don't dislike Windows7, I just don't like MS.
However, I do have a few things I run on Windows, but my main usage is
Linux. I found a dual boot works well for me for both uses.

I haven't had video game consoles since Atari 2600. I like computer
games (especially MMOGs) due to modifications/mods, better graphics,
etc.
