If I create a new user that exists only on another (source)
installation, how can I import that complete user folder into a target
installation? On XP a different user could just copy-in the folders but
w7 doesn't seem to approve of the practice.

TIA

You will need to create the new account, and log in to it once, then
from another administrator account, copy the desired folders into the
newly created profile folder. You WILL need to force override ownership
when asked.

Thanks, took me some time to get around to trying it. On the first run
it bombed, the system immediately logged out the user. On the second run
I 'imported' only those real files/folders that I had to and it all came
through!
