The other day I updated my windows updates.
One optional update was for my HD Radeon card.
During the install the screen went dark twice and for about 3 seconds each.
Since this was an update for my graphics card, I need not be concerned?

I don't recall this flashing happening in the past.

If everything is now working fine then I personally would not worry.Sounds to me as if the system was momentarily re-setting the card as it was updating the drivers.

yes, no hickups now.
So probably correct in resetting the card.

I second that. A graphics card is a little (but very powerful) computer by its own right. It has a main processing unit, the GPU, it has its own RAM, its own chipset, inputs and outputs. Basically, your card was rebooting itself so it could configure with the new updates.

Glad to hear you are "practicing safe computing". Thanks to badguys, keeping our systems updated, patched, scanned and blocked is a necessary responsibility as Internet users to keep our systems, self, and families safe and secure.
