Very interesting article by Fred Langa at Windows Secrets. He deliberately allowed LizaMoon to infect his system and gives us the details. Good screen captures, too

That's similar to what happened to me, those real looking warnings at the time of infection, and MSE was my AV at the time. I couldn't access any of my security apps, no online scanner, finally it shut IE8 down totally.

As in this case, both MBAM & MSE couldn't clean every trace of the malware, and only a reformat & reinstall fixed things. Those type of infections are very nasty, and takes hours to remove.

After that happened, I started running the ESET Online Scanner weekly, it usually found things that MSE missed, but these missed items were not as dangerous as the nasty one.

Very interesting.
