Hello mistu, thanks very much for the extensive list. I learned a new shortcut to the run command prompt (Windows logo key + R) thanks to your post. It's always good to learn something new every day to expand your OS knowledge.

When I run the command chkdsk, I get this message:
'Access denied as you do not have sufficient priviliges. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode.'

byw, I am logged in as administrator.

Any help is welcome

Right click the command prompt and run as Administrator

Type cmd in the box in the start menu. When it appears in the list, right click and run as administrator.

And many programs can be started by typing their name in the run box. (eg. typing "firefox" -> Mozilla Firefox starts.
