Hello all.

Recently, I've been entertaining the idea of moving from
Windows XP to Windows 7.

I generally don't do things like this without some careful
consideration. In the course of my efforts to gain a little
insight, I stumbled upon the following web page, which may
be of interest to those who are considering upgrading:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...d_in_Windows_7

I hope this info will be helpful to you.

Regards.

After taking a quick look at those sights, I now have a morbid fear
that there will be a quiz...

If those are just the changes, how many features are there that I
haven't yet used?

Thanks for the links to the lists, scary though they might be :-)

I spent a couple of minutes looking more carefully at the new features
list, and it's gotten less intimidating already.

One thing I had previously noticed, almost subliminally, is the better
handling of multi-slot card readers. I hadn't realized it was new to
Windows 7, I just thought the card reader had better drivers (see
"Removable media").

Nice list, but appears incomplete. Unless I missed it, one thing I
noticed is that it doesn't list the removal of the Search entry in the
right-click context menu in Explorer. I'd have to take time to really
study it to see if there are any others I've encountered that aren't
listed. But by and large, most of what I've seen are there, and many
I've not yet run into.

There will be a quiz, it will be 35% of your final grade.

Question 1. Explain the difference between "sights" and "sites".

A "sight" is a place, such as the location of a store. A "site" is
something you can see, such as the errors I just typed :-)

I have to say that your post made laugh my butt off. At myself...

I'm still giggling a little, in fact.

My last PC arrived with Windows 7 installed. I didn't noticed any show
stopping changes and so installed W7 on all my other systems. If I had
known about all the changes in advance I may have hesitated but I
didn't read any lists of missing features and have not noticed any
myself!

Not me, and I really wish they were optional!
