Kaspersky problems!!!!!!!!!! and windows problems :(

Ok here is my problems as follows:
I go onto the protection menu and notice i have several X's next to the following - file anti-virus, proactive defense, anti hacker and web control. ( we will call these N)
I try to start them by clicking them and pressing 'Start' however a notice at the bottom reads - N failed.

This means basically i have no protection, what shall i do?
i also have the problem of updating windows 7, it says it failed with a big X and the error code is 80070002

Are you using the specific Windows 7 Kaspersky beta (http://www.kaspersky.com/windows7) or KIS 2009?

yes it is the specific windows 7 kaspersky beta and i have tried those steps supplied by windows help and to no avail.
what can i do? i am trying to avoid a reinstall.
