What are the drawbacks in installing Windows Internet Explorer 9? Do you loose anything? How better is it than E8? How can I find E8 on my computer? It's not at the bottom of Windows update in "View Installed Updates". I am thinking about installing the new E9 Cataloochee

If this is for a Vista or Windows 7 computer, there are no drawbacks. IE9 is better in several way, most notably, security.

If this is for an XP computer, you are stuck with IE8.

I have Windows Internet Explorer 7 Home Premium Edition (64-bit) with E8 (I think). I haven't found E8 yet unless it's in View Updates. E9 looks good but I don't want loose any material, which I have heard it happens. A present I'm trying the 64-bit instead of the other Internet Explorer which doesn't indicate if it's 32 or 64. No, you mixing up things. You have Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. There is no E8. There is Internet Explorer 8, also called IE8. And IE9, not E9.

No. Part of practicing safe computing is staying current. And with Windows 7, the current version of Internet Explorer for Windows 7 is IE9. So that is what I use.
