It was working all good on windows xp service pack 3, this moring and i installed my windows 7 and no internet

I'm using thompsons speedtouch modem if that helps

when i troubleshooted him it says something like ''local area connection'' adapter - Deactivated
I guess i am missing a driver of some sort?

I assume your MB is an Asus as it is the only manufactures website that comes up with the Atheros L2 search?

If so http://support.asus.com/download/download_item.aspx?model=P5GC-MX/1333&product=1&type=drivers&SLanguage=en-us gives you a list of all current drivers for an Asus MB.

Remember that most Vista drivers will work on 7.

If you have a driver cd for your PC I would start by running that if you can.

As for the modem... looks like you are not going to have much luck. It may be a good idea to use a different modem if you have one available.

Works with Vista 32 bit though… might be worth a try?

Go to the Atheros website: http://www.atheros.com/

You should find the driver there, but you'll have to know which Atheros product you have.

Please select an Atheros WLAN chipset technology:
AR9002
AR9001

AR5008
AR5007
AR5006
AR5005
AR5002

Well the problem is that i can not connect to an internet. It says
there is no connection available...
When i try to detect what is the problem:

Windows network diagnostics
Thw ''Local area connection'' is experiencing driver or hardwer
related problems..

Problems found:
The ''Local area connection'' adapter is not working properly - Detected

When i go on detection details:

Details about network adapter diagnosis:
Description................Atheros L2 fast ethernet 10/100 base - T controller
Manufacturer..............Atheros
Provider.....................Microsoft
Version......................2.6.7.23

- and some other stuff that i belive are irrelevant.

When I go to RUN , write cmd, and ping 192.168.1.1
it says:

Pinging 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data

Ping: transmit failed. General failure.
Ping: transmit failed. General failure.
Ping: transmit failed. General failure.
Ping: transmit failed. General failure.

Sent = 4, Recived = 0, Lost = 4 (100%)

My internet service provider says that it must have been something
with my windows.
I am using wierd connection, and every cabel is plugged in...It all
worked perfectly on Windows XP (service pack 3)
I am using 32-bit Windows 7 final, with proper serial code.

My system configuration is as following:

Processor: Pentium Dual-core CPU E5200 @ 2.50 GHz 2.50 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 2,00 GB

Device manager:
Network adapters:
Atheros L2 fast ethernet 10/100 base -t controller - this driver
is working properly
Other devices
Unknown device - the driver for this device are not installed (code 28)
USB network interface - the driver for this device are not
installed (code 28)

If you will need any more additional informations about my machine message me on

-this is more in depth look of my problem i will try your sugestions...Thank you all

Which version are you using? Your post are not consistent.

I do have a question though. Do you have more than one "Local Area Connection" setup? You might have a connection setup that is not working correctly and conflicting with the one that is working correctly.

Check this location
"Control Panel >> All Control Panel Items >> Network and Sharing Center"
Look to the left side and click "Change adapter settings"

Make sure there is only one "Local Area Connection".
And that the "Local Area Connection" is not disabled.

I was running Windows XP before and had no problems with my internet connection and speed. My ISP is o2 and like I said no problems. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 32bit. I am now getting half the speed and my connection goes down on a regular basis. Ive been onto o2 who are really helpful but they suggested it was a wiring problem. BT charged me an arm and a leg to get the wiring changed but I'm still getting the same problems. I'm even using my Netgear router now instead of the Thompsons one from o2 but no change. I have to keep resetting my modem to get the connection back or reboot Windows and this is the part I can't understand....anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
