I am trying to figure out why I am receiving the following message after trying to configure Microsoft Outlook 2010 on my laptop.

Send test e-mail message: Cannot send the message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 550 5.7.1 Authentication Required

I have already tried disabling the antivirus software. I know all the information is accurate since I have Outlook 2010 configured on my desktop using windows xp and outlook 2010.

I also have no problem logging on to my verizon account using my username and password.

Any suggestions are appreciated,

J

Contact Verizon or check out their website for instructions how to set up Microsoft Outlook. You may have entered the wrong SMTP server or it may require the full email address or visa versa just your ID but they can likely answer your question the fastest and most precise with actual addresses and IDs rather than generalities we would have.
