My old faithful Homesite 5 seems to work well in Win7, but all the icons
in the toolbars have disappeared. It's currently running in
Compatibility mode for XP, but even so, no icons. Unfortunately I don't
have hardware virtual support on my machine, so no XP Mode.Any ideas
about how to get the icons back?

This is nothing short of amazing. Homesite is the all time favorite html
editor of thousands. There's not even one person in the group who has
succeeded in making it work in Win7?

I am running Homesite 5.5 on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I just
installed it from my backed up download directory. All the icons seem
to be there. Looks and works the same as it always has.

Do you mean you made a clean install from a saved installation file in
your download directory? That's what I did on Win7 32 Premium, but the
icons don't show. Are you using XP Mode? If you mean something else,
please explain.
Thanks.

Yes, I did a clean install. No, I am not using XP Mode. All the icons
are there. I did nothing extra.

Thanks for your reply. Your experience makes me optimistic, but I still
cannot understand what happened here. I'll try another clean
installation after I uninstall and delete as much as possible.

Thanks again, Avraham

Following your advice, BettyB, I uninstalled HS 5.5 and searched around
for other associated folders to remove. I then reinstalled the program,
and so far all looks well. I am still nervous whenever I open it, but so
far the icons are all there. Thanks for the spot of optimism.
