Help. Repeated freezes windows 7 32 bit

Hi, I bought my laptop about 9 months ago and it worked fine. Recently, I was using it on a plane, and running MS Powerpoint (no internet connection). All of a sudden it started freezing every couple of minutes for minutes at a time. In safe mode it seems to avoid the freezes. I evene did a system restore to about two weeks ago when i know the computer was working 100%. That did nothing. I have not installed anyting new for months. I am completely flummoxed. Help?
I have a toshiba t135 s1309 with windows 7 home premium OA 32 bit.

Uninstall your current antivirus in safe mode using the tool found here:

Reboot and install MSE.
