Have Win 7 64 Bit Home Prem.
I have an SSD which C Drive
I have HD which is my Back up drive on Drive E.
I want to split E into two partitions - E & F.
F "drive" would be where my C drive Libraries would end up - eventually.

Heres what I did:
Opened Disk Mgmt.
Rt clicked on my Drive (E), chose Shrink volume, but I got an error msg saying that it is either disabled OR has no associated devices attached to it.
I then did a Rt click on the E drive and saw an option (which I now regret as can go back to its previous state) "Make Partition as Active"
Then tried the Shrink Volume again - but same error and now I can not go back to "Make Partiction as not Active."

So how do I fix my problem?

Download the free "home" version of http://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html
and see if you can do more with it.
Download is from CNET so use caution when installing. (Opt out of toolbars and such.)

Thanks the tool worked.
Split my E drive into Two partitions - now have an E & an F.

I had seen a trick that suggested the culprit may be that my Disk Defrag was stopped in Windows Services - well it is because the C drive is an SSD.

Only issue is that my Carbonite Info Center said my (E) drive was disconnected.
After a reboot that Alert did not show. Plus I do see Orange & Green circles next to Folders in my E Drive.

That's strange, can you post a screenshot of it?

Do not have access to the screen shot.
Though last night sent it to Carbonite Tech Support - for their input.

Hoping the re-boot of the PC 'fixed' it.

(or are you asking for a screen shot of the circles? - thats the Carbonite telling me which is pinned for a back up (orange) and green (already backed up to their server).
