Having Java related problems

I've been monitoring an old Linksys IP camera with IE and everything
worked fine till IE 9 happened. Then the Java-enabled MP-4 video stopped
working. After some Google search I found out that I needed the latest
Java runtime engine update to have it work again. So I obtained it and,
indeed, that made the camera's video show up again in IE. But today,
after the latest Windows updates the problem returned even though this
time I do have the latest Java running. Compatibility mode is no help,
either. Any ideas what the heck is going on with these latest IE-Java
related issues I'm having? Is Oracle at war with MS and that's what I
see here?

KB973923 (MS09-35) is an old update reappearing on some Win7 systems even though supposedly superseded by KB2538242 (MS11-025).
- Combined they patch a vulnerability in the Active Template and Foundation Class Libraries
- KB973923 can be removed via Programs and Features
* Nothing in the KB or its related 'Known Issues' indicates that its presence creates a Java runtime issue but it may be worth
removal to see if related.

MSE updates - if suspect, consider presenting your problem in the appropriate MSE or IE9 forums at:

Thanks for the info, Winston. After my OP I am having second thoughts
about the possible cause of my Java problem. It looks more and more like
a problem with the "IP Cam Viewer" Android app I also use to access my
IP cam over the Internet. It appears that the app is not a well behaved
program and does not always close the video stream properly, leaving the
cam in a state where successive attempts to access it by either my
phone's app, or by IE result in failure. I figured out that in such
situation the connection to the IP cam can be restored again with
rebooting the cam. So I am sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase
with my OP. I appreciate your effort though.

No problem, no goose chase...The C++ 2005 Sp1 Redistributable was fresh in my memory having answered a question on it a few hours
earlier. That allowed me to at least provide a route to test if it (the only non MSE item in your Windows Update list)was a factor
(i.e. remove and test IP Cam).

Good luck with resolving your Java/IP Cam problem.
