I have installed Nova Greeting Card Factory Deluxe Version 7 on a Windows 7 64-bit operating system but there is a time lag of up to 3 seconds every time I want to edit a graphic or part of a greetings card. Application is therefore unusable

The Software developer says the application is Windows 7 Ready and no-one has reported a similar problem but I have installed the package on 2 different Windows 7 machines (32 bit and 64 bit) and the same issue occurs

Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this software and/or know of a solution as I am stuck with a redundant piece of software?

It works fine on both XP and Vista

Thanks

DavidCTID, welcome to the forums! One question on your program that you're having problems with. Did you check it for updates (while it's open and running)? You may have already done so, but sometimes we all miss the obvious. And you should be able to run the program in Compatibility Mode, that may help too. If these suggestions don't work, post or check back, someone else may know something.

catilley1092 thanks for your reply. I have checked for updates (there aren't any!) and run in Compatibility mode but the problem still occurs.

I have followed all suggestions made by a helpdesk analyst from the software company and the only one which has removed the time lag is to load the msconfig.exe and boot up in Diagnostic Setup mode.

Unfortunately, only the basic drivers are loaded and so other parts of the PC (e.g internet) then become unavailable!

Obviously this is not a solution - any further ideas on what programs / drivers may be causing a conflict?

The PC is very new and runs Kaspersky anti virus software.

Thanks

Have you tried to disable (turn off real time protection) your AV, then run the program? I must caution, do this only for testing purposes for the shortest time you can. If it works, then you may be able to exclude the AV for your program. There is usually a control for this, I'm not familiar with your brand of AV. Also, you can control programs that start when you fire up your computer. I use CCleaner for this purpose. You open the program, go to tools, go to Startup. There is a list of programs that starts up with your computer. The ones that you don't need at startup, select all of the ones you don't need. This may be some help, if another startup program is preventing your software from running properly. Try these things and see what happens. There are other possibilities to get your app running, but what I've mentioned above is a good starting point. I hope that you find an answer among these options.

I disabled all the startup programs within System Configuration but the time lag problem was still occurring.

However, when I stopped 'Themes' within Services the software worked without any time lag. Unfortunately, the effect this has is to change the display on the PC to one which doesn't look like Windows 7. It appears the conflict is between the display settings on Windows 7 and the Greeting Card software.

Do you think a future Service Pack release may resolve this issue? Any advice on how to report this to Microsoft would be appreciated

What were the other options you mentioned as maybe these could solve my issue without having to change the display settings?

Thanks

Usually when a program isn't responding, it will give you the option to check for a solution. But your program is responding, so that may not apply to you. You can run "check for solutions" from the Action Center, it may or may not pickup your problem. It is possible that a service pack will resolve your issue, but no one can promise that to you. There are other possible options for you. Have you ever used a virtual machine (VM)? What it is, it's a PC within a PC. Say for instance you installed one (it's simple to do), you can use your disc (and you need your COA) to install whatever OS you have on hand. Do you have an XP or Vista install disc, if you upgraded your computer to Windows 7 yourself? Your COA should still be attached to your computer. But let me first tell you, this should be a last resort, if everything else fails. You may want to wait on SP1 and see if it helps, that's up to you. Or another solution would be, if you need the app really bad, find a used laptop that you know for certain that it will work on, like you mentioned it worked fine in XP and Vista. You can fine one at a reasonable price. But if it were me, I wouldn't give up hope yet, you may find an answer to get it to work on Windows 7. Hopefully you will soon find an answer. What I have mentioned above are some possibilities.

Thanks for the tip on disabling Themes. It has worked for me too, although it is a shame that I can't use the themes.

Have you tried using the latest Nvidia driver for the NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 that's in your computer? (At least that's what the HP site states is in the P6235uk.)
