I went ahead and looked on ebbay.com.au and if you look the 5750s that sold went for AU$93, AU$95, AU$112.50 and AU$188 ... I would say the $188 is somebody who didn't check going rates. The 5770s down under have a bigger range, going for AU$152.50 to AU$206

I use AuctionStealer.com - it places 3 bids for me per week free in the last 20seconds or for a fee you can bid at 3 seconds. No software needed - it's done online so even if my computer is down the bid is placed.

From the store I normally go. Up to date prices are Gigabyte radeon HD5770 $219 &
XFX Radeon HD 5770 $229. Gigabyte gives a 3 yr warranty and XFX 2yrs.

The forum software doesn't handle tables and will replace multiple spaces with a single space.

I have made post appear to have columns by placing a period or dash between each space and then making them white to blend in with the background.

The Gigabyte 7900GT comes with dual DVI-I ports. I don't know if all, but some, came with two adapters to convert those to vga and with an i/o box, and a game (see here). None of these items is in the listing, most importantly if you only have vga available you will need the DVI converter (here in the USA I can find them on eBay for $2.50 but I don't know about AU.) But yes that is a better card when new. Always ask if it was overclocked as this runs the cards hotter and wears them out faster.

The powercolor is not as good a card but it comes with 1 vga & 1 dvi native to the card.

Every time I buy impulsively on eBay I overpay. Like Cat said you can often find it cheaper at a store. If you want the 7900 then run a search for "buy 7900gt" or "buy gigabyte 7900gt" and see what prices you can find and if it comes with items you want or need, like the dvi to vga adapters.

I took 3 or 4 weeks before I bought my video card at the price I wanted to pay - and then when I got it it didn't have the game he advertised so I got another $20 off. I don't play games that often, I would just have used it to test my cards abilities so I preferred the savings anyway

First of all if one is going to buy something on eBay you had better know exactly what it goes for in the stores and at the etailer websites. Yes, a lot of eBay merchants do have higher prices because they can't buy in the volume the "big boys" do. But eBay pricing is not always higher than in the stores, I know this for a fact.

I have never, ever paid more for a product on eBay versus the store or etailer. I have always saved at least 15% or better. This is because I do my homework and research the product, plus I am not in a hellfire hurry to get it usually.

Discernment is the key to buying effectively and saving money when using eBay. Also a real good sniping program helps too. My bid is always placed in the last 4 seconds of the auction. Plus I didn't pay for the sniping software either.

Is this for new games? If it is, that 7900GT is too slow for 2009+ gaming above 1440x900 with settings set to high.

What baffles me about this whole thing is why go cheap on graphics cards that are four year old technology or so?

Spend a few bucks and get a Radeon HD 4850 or an nVidia equivalent.

You should be able to get an nVidia GE Force 8400GS for around $32-35 Aussie Dollars.

You should be able to get a Radeon 4550 for around $35-38 Aussie Dollars.

Really now, consider the fact on how much you spend on the CPU, RAM, PSU, motherboard, etc. Isn't it worth your while to get a least a fairly decent video card with around 512MB of onboard RAM?
