I wonder whether the "creator " of MS Win 7 WLM looked at own
creation and compare it with Thunderbird, for example, which FREE.

Thanks RC White, for you reply.
Ribbon or Tool Bar - you got right any way, for someone who's
"Microsoft Windows MVP (2002-2010)"

I know about the “The Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) has only icons, no text.”

But why to have this “dualism” Outlook Express had it well
designed and done – if it works don’t try to fix it. But the
did something what is indefensible. More, for me it
looks like vandalism.

Best as ever -

Hi, McCorkindale.

I've read your message several times and I'm still not sure exactly what you
are asking. :>{ But I'll give it a try.

I'm running the same version of WLM as you are; it's WLM 2011 (aka version
15, aka Wave 4) with the Ribbon UI. I'm not sure what you mean by "the Tool
Bar". The Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) has only icons, no text. The Menu Bar
(Home | Folders | View | Accounts) has only text, no icons.

So you must be talking about the Ribbon, which changes depending on the Mode
you are in (Mail, News, Compose). The Ribbon has both icons - fairly large
ones - and text, sometimes under the icons, sometimes alongside. The Ribbon
does take up about 4 lines of screen real estate.

There's no way to edit the Ribbon, so far as I know, but you can hide it
quite easily. Just right-click on either the Menu Bar or the QAT and choose
Minimize the Ribbon. Before you do, though, populate the QAT with the
commands that you use often. Then, even with the Ribbon hidden, you can
have one-click access to Reply, or Update all, or Show replies, or any other
commands that initially are represented by those icons on the Ribbon. To
put just about any command onto the QAT, just right-click the command's icon
and choose Add to Quick Access Toolbar. Then you have one-click access to
that command. These icons appear in the QAT in the order you add them;
after a few days to see how it works, you might want to delete them all and
re-add them in the order that you prefer. And you can choose to have the
QAT above or below the Ribbon - or Minimize the Ribbon and use only the QAT.

The Ribbon frustrated me a LOT at first. Then I learned how to use the QAT
and life has been MUCH better! ;<)

How to get rid of text inscription in WLM Tool bar ?
Is it possible to alter / edit the Tool Bar of WLM in Windows 7?
The icons are too big and text spoils everything.

TIA

Search for and download Windows Live 2009 (or Version 14).
Remove everything associated with Windows Live 2011 (or Version 15) in
Add/Remove Programs.
Install the parts your want of Windows Live 2009.

If you plan on posting in newsgroups using WLM 2011, you will get yelled at.

I'm sure I will get yelled at for this post but felt I had to respond.

WLM2011 V15 is a fine email client and a good replacement for Outlook
Express. I get tired of hearing people advise others that WLM2011 is junk,
etc. just because it doesn't display well on certain newsgroups. It works
great for 99% of email functions. There are many other forums where tech
help, etc. can be had and most are better than what can be had on Usenet
(which BTW appears to be dying).

Flame away.
