Hi,

I have a bunch of files and folders that i want hidden from the other users on my computer. I have one of two admin accounts, the rest are limited. I have set the correct permissions settings (Changing from Allow to Deny ) in C:\Users

Now, when a user makes a search from within the START menu, my files are listed. How can i take this off? The folder has been set to hidden, and i have unchecked "the Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed".

Thank You!

Hi bauer24

Are you asking how to hide files from other users when they are placed under in "All Users\Document" folder?

Each login user has their own folder. If you set windows to require a login name and password. Windows will require the same name and password to view the files under each users folder. Basically what is taking place each user has to login to their own folder. If you want to hide your data from other users, you must place the data under your login name which will require your login name and password to view.

Simply hiding folders will not lock anyone out. Hiding folders will only hide the listing for that folder but can still be accessed. Indexing files is used for quicker access. Turning index services off will not help in your quest for hiding data.

There are multiple accounts on my computer and only two admins (My account is set to administrator) So for say for example i have a folder in My Documents titled "Alpha"

When another user logs into his account, and opens the START menu and searches the string "alpha" a list of files from that folder are viewable as results. How can i stop this from occuring?
