If you have Excel 2007 installed on Windows 7, you should have no trouble opening these files.

More info is needed about your setup/computer, ie wheather you upgraded to W7 or clean installed, desktop or laptop etc.

The more we have the easier it will be to help you.

Welcome to the forum.

I am using a new laptop with Windows 7 installed. The Excel 2007 files are on a flashdrive.

Okay, so your new laptop came with Excel or MS Office installed? You can check in Start/Control Panel/ Programs and Features/. Let us know.

Hi ssilver - Welcome to w7forums

When did you install Office 2007 on your PC? If you havent installed Office please do so.

Did you add the appropriate file types during setup? Please check if the file types you are trying to open has been added to Excel.

Can you see your files stored on the USB drve using Explorer? If not there maybe a problem with Windows reading your drive.

PS - I'm sorry if these questions seem stupid. The more you tell us initially the less questions such as these you will receive. We need to know more and if we are not told, we will then be forced to blindly ask questions.

Office 2007 was not installed on the laptop, Windows 7 was. I installed Office afterwards. What exactly are you referring to as "appropriate file types"? I die all the required steps for installing the software. My referenced machine is at home so will check the drives on Explorer later.

If you installed Office 2007 on your PC, then open Office 2007, then use the file -> open menu to open the files.

I don't understand the complication.
