With in the last 24hrs I started getting the red X on the action center icon. Windows security center service (important). The windows security center service is turned off. I click on the "turn on now" tab and nothing. I've gone into the services area and manually checked it, it's on start with auto delay. I've changed it to "auto" and clicked apply, ok, and then start and I get error: 5 access denied. So what is causing this and how can I fix this?

I would suggest running malware Bytes, SuperAnti-Spyware, and possibley an on line AV scan of your computer. Some nasty programs turn this off

Thanks SS...ran all that stuff and all came up empty. Then I noticed that my search index field after clicking the orb was missing and then some other programs not functioning right. I just did a re-install last night...so far all is well.
