I have tried to upgrade to the latest version (3.5). I had an older
version loaded which I uninstalled first. Part of that procedure
included a reboot, which I did.
When I attempted to load the new version I got a message that there
was an old version that had been removed and a reboot was required. I
had already done several reboots, but the message still appears.

Anyone have I idea how to fix this and allow the new version to be
loaded.

Thanks

Dennis

I had 1.1 and just updated to 3.5 I haven't tried a backup yet, but it
uninstalled 1.1 and installed 3.5 without problem. I've run it, and the
main screen shows with the various options. I assume it's ok.

Uninstall 3.5 and then try Revo uninstaller (Google it) to remove any
bits of 3.5 and the previous version which might remain.

Reinstall 3.5. If you still get the message, try asking your question
in the EaseUS forum.

In my experience, Revo Uninstaller will only uninstall an existing
program. It won't find uninstall info for a program that has already
been uninstalled.

I've been using another uninstaller program recently, so if Revo has
gotten smarter, I wouldn't be aware. But anyway, if I'm wrong, please
correct me :-)

No, you are right, and if the program uninstaller has to reboot to
complete the uninstall, like Todo 3.5 does, it screws up Revo. What
uninstaller are you using?

From the Revo home page(http://www.revouninstaller.com/index.html) :

"After the program's regular uninstaller runs, you can remove additional
unnecessary files, folders and registry keys that are usually left over
on your computer."

"Revo Uninstaller Pro has a very powerful feature called Forced
Uninstall. Forced Uninstall is the best solution when you have to remove
stubborn programs, partially installed programs, partially uninstalled
programs, and programs not listed as installed at all!"

I'm currently using IObit Uninstaller, http://www.iobit.com/

Yeah, I noticed (OK, *speculated*) that about Revo and IObit both. It
would take a very smart program to figure out what was queued for
removal or other action at reboot...

I can only hope that their analysis finds all the things that would be
taken care of in a reboot.

This is also a good argument for the type of program that catches all
the changes made during an installation and keeps a record of it.

And it may be a decent argument for not using these programs.

Aha! So the problem is that I am a cheapskate!

I used the free Revo Uninstaller and now the free IObit Uninstaller...

You might wish to say that, but I couldn't possible comment, as that's
not the issue here. :-))

The 30-day free trial is for the Pro version, so if Revo is going to
work there would be no need to buy the full version for this one-off
uninstall.

Is that to uninstall Revo? ("Quis custodiet ipsos custodes", if you see
what I mean!)

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

What a great idea! We could call it InCtrl5! :-)

Actually, I was only talking about why I was ignorant of some of Revo
Uninstaller's capabilities.

Funny guy...

IIRC, I just didn't install it when I built this machine, but now you
make me wish I had, so I could try to see how these tools watch over
each other :-)

The rest of this post is optional...

What a fun experiment:

1. Make a complete image backup.

2. Make a complete clone backup.

3. Make a Restore Point.

4. Install Revo Uninstaller.

5. Use Revo to uninstall IObit.

6. Check the results.

7. Install Revo again.

8. Use IObit to uninstall Revo.

9. Check the results.

10. Now I'm back where I started, and if nothing went wrong, I won't
need the backups or the restore point :-)
