Hi,

While trying to set up an AIO printer\scanner, I uninstalled an unwanted pair of applications ( a bundled version of Paint Shop Pro and Dell Picture Manager) and then found that my CD\DVD drive had disappeared from the configuration. I checked in Device Manager and it reported that "a driver (service) had been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing the function (Code 32)". I tried to reinstall the driver but this failed. Can someone please explain how I can identify which driver or service has been disabled in order to restart it?

Thanks

IF you have System Restore activated, try using that first.

Must be a Dell printer/scanner...

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I found that System Restore had been switched off (?) at some point. So I didn't have a Restore Point (I do now).

But I finally found a source which addresses this problem:-
