Hello you computer guys.

How to dump isobuster from my win 7 computer. It is not visible to prog
removers like ZSoft Uninstaller. Isobuster is not listed in Programs and
Features.

Thanks.

How do you know it's there, then?

If the software isn't listed in Programs and Features then it won't be
listed in the Installed Programs tab of Zsoft Uninstaller (which just
reflects the same list of installed programs). Unless you actually took
a snapshot before an install, did the install, and then compared the
host's changed state against the snapshot to record the changes then
nothing will be listed under the Analyzed Programs tab. There is no
real-time monitor in Zsoft Uninstaller for installations. That's not
its purpose. You snapshot, you install, you compare and record.

You might be able to use Revo Uninstaller. The free version does not
include their real-time install monitor but does include a database of
known apps and how to remove their file and registry entries.

You never mentioned if you have the 32- or 64-bit version of Windows 7.
Use of an uninstaller utility could be hazardous or results incomplete
if used in 64-bit versions of Windows unless that utility says it
supports 64-bit versions of Windows. Zsoft Uninstaller is too old and
has not been updated to support 64-bit versions of Windows. The free
(old) version of Revo Uninstaller does not support Windows 64-bit
(http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_..._download.html).

So just how was IsoBuster installed? A proper installation will make
changes in the registry so just deleting its files won't completely
uninstall the software.

It should be listed under Windows Explorer. Isobuster contains an uninstall
folder which makes it very easy to delete.

Too bad they don't mention that on their web help page at:

Thanks to all.

One place this prog shows up is on Firefox. Isobuster makes a deep strip
across the top of the page with a search engine. I am astonished that
isobuster_eng.exe is still on the computer. I thought several times that
I had finished it off. The only visible part of it that I could find now
was at: C:\Utilities\JavaRE\isobuster\isobuster_eng.exe.

This I just deleted from the computer. However, killing that off won't
necessarily get it out of the computer.

There is another pile of useless crap called Babylon that also has a
search engine strip. Both of these seem to have arrived via Firefox and
certainly without my permission. Neither of these appear in the Control
Panel list of progs.

I have deleted all visible traces of both and am now waiting for them to
reappear. Fingers crossed!

Did you check in the addons (plugins/extensions/whatever) part of
Firefox, as well as Add/Remove etc. in the main Windows?

More likely, they were installed when you installed something
else and didn't decline their installation.

Like this.....

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2694585/IsoBuster.jpg

.....and this.....

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=61869 :

......"Babylon Toolbar is a useless toolbar that gets installed
by other software, for instance FoxTab Videoconverter. Legal
age for installation is 18 while this fact is only mentioned
in the terms. Babylon Toolbar installs itself to the system,
the Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome. The
Babylon.Toolbar is almost identical to Toolbar.Facemood.".....

Or it was pushed to you through a CNET download, explained
here....

installer/

It's *highly* doubtful they just 'showed up'...on their own.

I sure did check the Firefox plugins and extensions and there is no
trace of them.

I'll have to do a more careful search in future, when installing, to
keep that garbage out of my box.

Most likely the FoxTab did it.

I very rarely use CNET now.
