When I put software shortcut icons on the desktop, these have
characteristic icons.

If I then put this icon into a desktop (along with shortcuts to user
manuals etc.) folder all I get is a folder icon.

How does one replace the "folder icon" with the characteristic one?
Where are these "characteristic icons" stored?

Peter

Right click on the folder, select "Properties"
Select "Customize" tab
Click "Change Icon" button
Browse to the program of interest
Select the icon you want to use
