In WindowsXP the thumnail pictures could be moved around manually
within a folder (with the mouse) in any desired order.

But they are all fixed in position in Windows 7.

Is there some setting to free them up?

Peter

Could you be a little more specific? I don't recall seeing that question
handled. I did a search for "thumbnail" in the subject line and came up
empty. Do you have a date/time, or a subject line?

well I can't find it in this group. But searching other places gave
me the answer that the facility has been removed.

Well this just pisses me off because I scan vintage photos and the
only way to arrange them is manually. The EXIF thing is just not
relevant here!

Any one collecting photos and images over the internet has to do a
fair bit of manual sorting and renaming, and one reason I took the
jump to Windows7 was the enhanced speed and graphic capabilities.

Well this just really sucks, and now I have to hack around and find
some registry fix, or some other software and it's all a big
unecessary. Well bugger Microsoft and all its drones!

I don't suppose you know of any way to hack the registry to restore
this facility...?
