I have some portable software I run and Win 7 asks me whether I'm sure
I want to run it before it launches the shortcut. See screenshot:

How do I disable that prompt and just have the program run?

I haven't tried the solution as posted, but Windows 7 most cetainly does
have gpedit. At least, Windows 7 Ultimate does. I have gpedit.msc,
gpedit.dll, and gpedit.chm.

Gpedit is only available in Windows 7 Professional or higher. From
Windows Help and Support:

"Local Group Policy Editor"

"Local Group Policy Editor is a Microsoft Management Console (MMC)
snap-in that you can use to edit local Group Policy objects (GPOs).
Local Group Policy Editor and the Resultant Set of Policy snap-in are
available in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 Professional, Windows
7 Ultimate, and Windows 7 Enterprise. For more information, see
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=139815."

Oh dear, you really look stupid.

Windows 7, like XP & Vista, HOME versions don't have gpedit.

Next time, do a tiny bit of research first.

If you read the above quoted material, you'll see that Richard said
"windows 7 does not have gpedit", not "windows 7 home does not have
gpedit".

Since you are the "smart" one how about presenting any kind of a
solution instead of criticizing the one that doesn't work for you? At
least I found an answer that works.

Next time, read a bit more carefully first.

I have Windows Home Premium... and it has gpedit.
No extra charge. No warez. Just came like that.
Should I send it back, or send them a check?

HTH.
