Does anyone know if deleting the "hiberfil.sys" file will make Windows 7 unstable/inoperable?

Shouldn't do. Just disable Hibernation and it will "disappear" anyway.

A .reg file to do just that
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Power]
"HibernateEnabled"=dword:00000000

Not at all. But it will desiable hibernation. But don't delete it. Disable hibernation from the control panel. That'll delete it on a reboot.

By the way, welcome

And, miraculously, a thread appears next to yours!!

The Lord works in mysterious ways (but not as mysterious as the ways of Windows!!).
