Colorfax needs alternative to plugging-unplugging - for USB

Hello Experts,

I have a ColorFax prog that requires this. My Zoom modem runs very well
on Com 4 but the prog can't connect to that immediately. It needs a
change of USB socket, followed by some adjustment to the prog. Is there
a way to make that connection permanent?

Why can't it be like the best of fax progs - send a fax straight off
instead of having to spend a few minutes fiddling.

TIA

PS
Another bang for http://www.blackice.com/support.htm.

I have paid for the program and still it keeps popping up 2 windows with
Purchase and Continue - every time I open it up.

They ignore me every time I send then an email asking about how to dump
these two windows. Unfortunately I downloaded this prog to check it out
before I bought it and I doubt that I could download one without this
nuisance.

I think you've posed to the wrong group. You need a software group. This
group is specifically dealing with Windows 7 issues

Thank you for your comment Jolly P.

Win 7 software issues are definitely involved here. This IS for a Win 7 OS.

You have not been following this situation. Just search above - date
19/11/2011 - for :

"Impact ColorFax Lite - need help with a Com port."

Have fun :-) and don't forget to return with a solution. :-)

But seemingly not the Windows 7 Operating System...

Loonie,

Have you tried out the Windows Fax and Scan option. It seems to just
dump incoming faxes into the "inbox", where you may then print or toss
at your leisure.

Hello Bob,

Thank you for your email.

By some weird chance, when I started up my computer this morning,
ColorFax opened up and immediately found the modem and got the right Com
port. This was the first time, in dozens of tries, that this has happened.

I have tried Fax and Scan many times but something always went wrong.
I'll try it again soon. Fortunately ColorFax is working now even though
it has that pesky "Continue or Purchase" nuisance message. I have
already paid for it.

Have a great weekend :-)

Clearly the problem is that you've only paid for it *once*. You should
make the company happier by paying for it a second (third, fourth,...)
time. It's your moral duty :-)

They sent me a weird form asking me to fill it out to remove the
"purchase or continue" messages. I was asked for the purchase order
number, the serial number and one other that I had not heard of. The
form seemed to have inviting boxes to fill but I could not do it. No
matter what I tried to put in any of the boxes they did take. Weird indeed.

They are extremely slow in responding.

Sometimes when I have that kind of problem (withj the form, not the
company!) it works OK in a different browser. Not always, but it's
worth a try if you have another browser handy. Internet Explorer tends
to be the one that works when others don't (sigh).

Thanks again Gene,

I have tried both Win Explorer 8 and Chrome - they did not accept any input.
