Just remembered something from the past (quick, mark that on the calendar
that the old man remembered something :-D). Start browser, open another
window with a link on original, drag second window to wanted size by
grabbing at edge until it's the full size of monitor (do not use expand
button), close original window, close second window by clicking the icon in
the top-left corner and selecting close. Next time you open browser it
should be full-screen.
HTH,
Dave

That thing where windows do auto-maximise when they are shoved
to the screen top (blooming annoying I reckon) is in fact a setting so
if the bloke has it turned off your excellent suggestion might not work.
